It is our missions to help abandoned, battered and undesirable horses and to encourage the proper handling of horses through upbringing. It is the GSH's primary programme and aim to find a lasting home for the horses that come into our custody and to give them a lifelong protective agreement. In many ways horses come into our programme - from abandonment and confiscation, flock reduction and many owners' deeds.
Also we help with the placement of horses that stay with their owner until placement to protect our sponsorship agreement. The Leg Up program helps horses in case of short-term difficulties. It can be help with food and hey, a borrowed rug, vet and farriers maintenance in a time of need, or a product delivery to equine breeders everywhere, according to what has been given and what resources are available.
Sometimes a stallion comes into our custody that is best qualified to stay with us for the remainder of his career for various ailments. We have a small sanctuary programme to create a tranquil and safe home for horses that fulfil our requirements, whether for old age, medical conditions, disabilities, behavioural issues or other causes.
The majority of our sanctuary horses find work in our other programmes, especially the children's programme at the Bug Club. The GSH internship program is available to pupils and undergraduates aged 16-23 who are interested in a careers in the fields of equestrian careers, equestrian recovery and recovery, vet service, traiing or representation.
The student is responsible for transport, insurances and caterings. The outreach and education programme will raise consciousness through open lectures, exhibitions and contests by some of our inmates. Horses have a slightly different definition of liberty.
