Horse Blanket Sizes
Blanket sizesDetermination of the size of horse blankets
If you are using a 78" Champ blanket, for example, if you lay the blanket down on the ground and are measuring the longest part of the blanket, you have a 78" on your tap. Champ ceilings use three inch steps, i.e. 78" 81" 84" etc. Ceilings from Champions are generous, with spacious shoulders and necks.
There are different sizes and cuts for all makes of horse rugs. It is NOT best to be compared with other makes, as you may not get the right horse sizes for your horse. Full length blankets: only for ceiling sizes, see above. Dimensions for a normal fit blanket and the high neckline are the same.
This is how you decide the size of the horse blanket
US blanket sizes run in two-inch steps (68", 70", 72", etc.). The sizes run in three inches steps (69", 72", 75", etc.). When your horse drops between the sizes, round him up to the bigger one. You must specify the desired weights and materials before ordering. It is used to gauge the tissue on the basis of the yarn count.
That is not the insulating mass, but the tenacity of the materials. As the number decreases, the tougher the blanket is made of. An example: 210 denier polyamide has a lower tenacity than 1200 denier polyamide. Choice of ratings: 210 - very easy; 420 - easy; 600 - moderate; 1200 - difficult; 1680 - extra difficult.
As the deniers score increases, the ceiling weighs more. When your horse does not need an indestructable blanket, do not pay for it. To heat an isolated blanket - do not raise the density score. A ceiling's level of isolation is expressed in grammes per sqm.
As the number increases, so does the blanket. A blanket weighing 200 g (about 7 ounces), for example, would be regarded as mid. Ceilings and panels are available in various materials. Nylon, Polypropylen, Polyester and Baumwolle are usual choice for the bowl or the lining. It is very long-lasting and mould, bacterial and decay-proof.
It can be used as an external shell for isolated ceilings, as an internal liner or on its own in a panel appliqué. It is also better for the coats because it glides instead of getting caught on the cap. Nylons are the most costly ceiling fabric. The polyester is lightweight and not as thick as either polyamide or propylene.
Density ratings must be higher to achieve the same strength as polyamide or polyamide at a lower score. It' a cheap stuff. It is seldom used alone because it does not dries as quickly as the plastics, does not breathe well and is difficult to wash.
A number of producers use synthetics mixed with wool. As a rule, the isolation is done with a plastic, e.g. Polyfill. Artificial isolation maintains its isolating characteristics even in damp conditions. A lot of ponies have quilts and bed linen for every kind of changing climate. It was below 32 Celsius at nights, so she was wearing her 300 grams of pad.
I put on the moderately heavy radiator after I ridden. It' not so chilly this evening, so she' ll be wearing her 200-gram poly-filled psychic blanket.
