Positive Harness Tension to enhance your driving style
It' the simple way to be powerful. "Part II of the volume "How the horse works" explains how the rider can help his horse to master co-ordination problems. First of all, the horse as a four-legged being is of course prone to do too much with its front and too little with its hindquarters.
Secondly, the horse is inherently leaning, so the horse must be helped to be level and straightened. The third part, "How Two Figures Align in Balance", provides the driver with a special instruction on how to achieve stability and harmonious ness at the point where two spikes come together. If your torso is open, your muscle is dilated and you are in a state of positive tone, i.e. tone with suppleness (Fig. 2.1). Conversely, when your system is shut, your muscle is compressed and you are in a state of contraction. Insufficient excitement or flaccid relief also has the effect of shutting the organism.
Riders' elastically beneficial tenseness allows them to be smooth, flexible and firm, so that their bodies can become a forceful force. Driving with excess pressure is much simpler than driving with compressed muscle. On the pictures (Fig. 2. 2 A and B) you can see that there is a psychic as well as a bodily positivity.
Horse and horseman with affirmative psychological strain have a positiv attitude and a heightened attention and spiritual sharpness. I call them "power lines" through which power can pass. Driver's power lines are completely level. They' re stabilizing their positions. And as the power passes through them, they channelize the horse's power and form its own bodies, creating smooth but firm limits within which the horse can readily counterbalance itself.
The horse can remain in this position in a stable that is comfortably positioned under the rider's arm. There are four main strands to the horse. A line of ears, shoulders, hips and heels help the horse to move forward by placing it in front of the legs. A line from the flexible elbows and the lower back to the teeth help the horse to be connected, collected and slowed down.
Even though it' s even spiral, this line to help the driver navigate through a bend. He concentrates on an obstacle that will help him to move his horse in a balanced position on his itinerary. Small or large, you can maximise your efficiency on a horse if you use all the "verticality" you have.
It shows you that your power lines are about using everything you have, from the sole of your foot to the top of your skull ('Fig. 2.3). Power lines are stabilised by flexible but powerful nuclear muscels surrounding your centre of balance.
Twenty nine muscle groups form your sturdy heart that links your chair to your power lines and allows you to move in a co-ordinated and controllable manner. Your nuclear muscle will keep you in a state of equilibrium when the natural law tends to upset you. Drivers' power lines must be smooth: laid-back yet under control, agile yet powerful.
However, the effect of flexible hinges is not small. If all the rider's hinges are smooth, the horseman seems to move little or not at all. It is liquid and fuses well with your horse. Arthroplasty, if the articulations are not flexible but uncontrollable, they move too much, leading to coarse (visible) movements.
However, when the foot is pressed all the way down, your hock is in an end stop where it can no longer be smooth (Fig. 2.6). If the ankles are in an end locking condition, they cannot be flexed and can move. It' stiffening the whole driver. The small rigidity echoed through the whole of the driver's torso and can lead to a bobble wobble wiggle-headed, fluttering elbow, sloping shoulder and other posture damage.
But if a hinge is in a mid-position, it can absorbe a brain shock. The power line will encourage the horse to stand in front of the legs and walk forward when you ask for it. If all your power lines are smooth, they can form your horse's physique and counterbalance him on his itinerary.
Experiment exercises 7 to create smooth articulations (p. 57). Power lines stabilise the rider's posture, but let's look at how Mother Nature is willing to push these power lines. There are four ways to unbalance riders: Drop back behind the movement is a frequent phenomenon, because the horse push of course sets the horse back, even if he is in a perfectly starting post.
Sometimes a horsewoman sits back because she pushes the horse forwards wrong. The back-of-movement posture of the horseman is like a gentle but everlasting variation of the show-jumper standing "left" by the rail. Those who have felt this powerless "kite in the wind" sensation will remember how difficult it is to shift their post.
Back-of-Movement riders are always rigid and incapable of giving clear, volunteer help. She' s also making her horse stiffen up. Drivers can also make the error of standing before movement. It is less harmful to the horse, but can be hazardous. Usually nobody drops from the back of a horse, but a lot has gone over the front.
In a sweeping line to the right, the cyclist'throws' the cyclist outwards (to the right). Congenital skewness of the horse's skew can skew a horseman. She will never be able to rectify the abnormality as long as she adapts to her horse's abnormality. Horsemen who align their spines exactly to the oriented spinal column of their horses are on the way to efficiency and wellbeing.
If the spikes are in alignment, 50 per cent of the rider's mass will fall on the inside of the horse and 50 per cent on the outside (Fig. 2. 4 A & B). That makes the horsewoman extensible and powerful as she is when she stands big and well in the position.
It is this straight and powerful upward force that allows the horse's energies to pass through the horse, helping it to maintain its own equilibrium. You can use your power lines to keep the horse in a state of equilibrium above its centre of mass. To do this, you need a horse that is at a constant, self-sustaining working speed.
Also the horse must have a good physical tone. He is committed to rhythms, flexibility and touch, which is a precondition for keeping the equilibrium of the horse.
