SWEEPING SAND ROOF

Pepppy San Badger, b. 1974 and also known as "Little Peppy", was a sortrel Quarter Horse bred by Joe Kirk Fulton from Lubbock, Texas, by the grower Mr San Peppy and from Sugar Badger, a subsidiary of Grey Badger III. Fulton was borne at Fulton's farm, where he began early education before falling ill with choking.

After he recovered from the disease, Peppy San Badger was purchased by the King Ranch of South Texas in 1977, where he stayed a stu. He was educated by coach and horseman Buster Welch, who had also rode his father, Mr San Peppy, to victory at the 1974 and 1976 NCHA Open World Championships.

The NCHA 1977 Futurity won Peppy San Badger with Welch as driver. Soon after Futurity, Welch purchased Little Peppy after King Ranch ruled that they did not need him as a young stud, as they already had his father Mr. San Peppy. Which one he had for a year before he agreed to resell it to the King Ranch to become part of their stud programme.

In 1978 Peppy San Badger, again with Welch on the road, won the NCHA Derby and finished the year 10. The Peppy San Badger triumph lasted into the 1980' and was crowned NCHA Reserve World Champion in 1980. In December of the same year he was accepted into the NCHA Hall of Fame.

He won the Open Division of the NCHA Final in 1981 and cumulated $172,710 in revenues over the course of his entire tenure. Pepy San Badger's fathering path has had a great influence on the Quarter Horse race. Until 2003 he was the top stallion of the NCHA for many years.

During 19 season Peppy San Badger produced 2,325 colts recorded at the AQHA. In 2001, the National Pure Horse Association World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity showed how productive Peppy San Badger's descendants have become. In the Snaffle Bit Futurity were four of the top 10 open horses of Peppy San Badger's prod.

Four of the 20 best open and non-professional finals at NCHA Futurity were from Little Penny's children. Vintage Little Taris, the 9th father of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), was accepted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2008, and Little Tenina, who won the NCHA Futurity in 1991.

He was euthanised on 8 July 2005 at the tender age of 31. He' re dead at King Ranch headquarters in Texas. Mr Peppy San Badger was elected to the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2008.
