On May 19th, an unusual and mostly white filly by California Chrome's progeny Lucky Pulpit was born on Stone Bridge Farm in New York in fulfilment of a vision triggered by the owner/breeder Gary Tolchin in a race with his progeny as a teenager. After a long quest for a white thoroughbred, Tolchin purchased the filly from the grey filly Passionforfashion last year.
"I' ve always wanted a white steed after I was in the aqueduct with my dad Sam Tolchin when I was born. It is my aim to keep raising white horses," said Tolchin, and added that he plans to keep the foal and finally bring it into motorsport school. The Jockey Club Registry Rick Bailey said it is too early to know what colour the filly will receive when it is born.
Its colouring is similar, if somewhat more auburn, to that of Passionforfashion's mother, the white Trust N Luck filly Turf Club, who also had a libertarian mark. Tolchin, who is headquartered in New Jersey and is involved in the New York and Kentucky breed programmes, has possessed or co-owned many celebrity skaters, among them Big Brown Champions, winners of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
Tolchin happened to find Passionforfashion via online auctions after an in vain bid to buy another white filly. As Passionforfashion, a subsidiary of Unbridled's Song's multi-classified boy Old Fashioned, was based in California and the 2016 stud period came to an end, MacDonald advised that she should be raised with Lucky Pulpit, who was into Harris Farms.
In the pulpit and the rampant, the same general crucifix from which the leader, Tapit, emerged. Tolquin set up the pairing with Lucky Pulpit, California's 2016 father and father of the record-breaking, two-time Horses of the Year California Chrome. Passion for fashion was safe to wear and he sent her to Stone Bridge Farm.
This stallion was born three month after the death of Lucky Pulpit while mating his first foal of the 2017 year. "Heidi Fischer, Stone Bridge Farm Director, says of the stallion, who has a stable framework and a good back. Shirayukihime, the white Sunday Silence dam, gave home the multi champion Yukichan, a white filly by Kurofune, and the favourites Marble Cake and Buchiko, both maroon white foals by King Kamehameha, who became multi champions for the owner/breeder Makoto Kaneko.
"Tolchin said, "I was intrigued when I saw the white horses with my dad, and I always liked them and grey horses that seem to be fortunate. "All of this fit together when Michele saw Passion For Fashion on Facebook, and I said:'Let's do it' with the combination with her.
I' d like to thank the guys at Harris Farms who have been so supportive and Stone Bridge Farm who are doing such a good work.
